Tyler Leary

Local Heroes Northwest recently came across this young ripper from up North.  Tyler Leary wreaks as much havoc on a sled as he does on a quad and from what we can tell, he’s an outstanding citizen to boot; exactly the kind of person LHNW wants to represent.  The senior at Montana State University is working towards a degree in Industrial Technology with an Associates in Metallurgy as well as earning his personal training certificate for kicks.  Outside of the classroom Leary works as an equipment operator and vies for the occasional midnight study break on a street bike.  You never know what kind of shenanigans this guy will be getting into but one thing is for certain, he’ll be doing it wide open!

Name: Tyler Patrick Leary
Age: 22
Hometown: Lewistown, MT
Occupation: Student/welder/trainer/bouncer/equipment operator
Current Rides: 2008 Honda 450R, 2008 and 2010 Arctic Cat Snopros
Class/Series: HCMA motocross pro, ITP Quadcross pro, and MWR Snocross series semi pro
Career highlights: Battling with the untouchable Tj Dietrich at Cokedale Raceway. We were back and forth passing until a mid air collision ended my moto. I came back to win the next moto on a borrowed Yamaha, with a broken nose and slightly concussed.
Favorite thing about the sport: My favorite aspect of what I do is the people by far! More often than not everyone is in the same boat as you and everyone can relate! It gives a big family aspect to everyone involved. Aside from the out for blood on the track everyone can come back and tell their stories and share smiles.
Favorite track/ride spot: My favorite track would have to probably be my home track in Lewistown. It’s HUGE. 2.2 miles of natural hills and when I say hills I mean MT hills. 4th gear jumps and corners with multiple lines and rhythms. My favorite place to ride would probably be Racetrack/Deerlodge MT
Parting words: I’m all about living. I do as much as I can while I can. If I have something in mind, you can bet it will happen.  I’m probably the most random person you’ll ever meet and always like to be doing something fun for sure be it riding, cliff jumping, building big boy toys or hanging out with friends around a bon fire.  We joke that we could have a better TV show the Nitro Circus because we come up with so much random acts of awesomeness in our spare time when we have it haha. I love people, but I can be just as content doing things alone as if I were with my best friends. It’s not safe but I ride my downhill bike alone at least once a week and usually go explore the backcountry on my sled alone a day or two before a film session.
Sponsors: I would like to thank JT Heaps at PFR suspension, Lewistown Honda, iF Media, Smith Optics, Golden West Cycle, Local Heroes Northwest, and friends and family who keep me smiling. Thanks
